Lauren Guymer is an Australian visual artist (b. 1992) based in Finland. Lauren’s practice includes painting, drawing, and fieldwork that reflect her passion for the natural world. Primarily working with watercolour on paper, she paints with intricate marks and complex layers to explore the immersive experience of the landscape. Her process involves observing, walking, and creating in nature to develop a sense of place and connection, with a particular focus on her home and local environment.    

In 2024, Lauren relocated from the Mornington Peninsula in Australia to Central Finland, where her current studio is situated between forests and lakes. Her dual homes have significantly influenced her work, as well as opportunities to travel and create abroad at artist residencies in Australia, Finland, and Iceland.

Lauren has exhibited in group, solo, and prize exhibitions in Finland and Australia, including the Paddington Art Prize, the SBS Landscape Prize, and the M16 Drawing Prize. In 2021, she was invited to present a major public exhibition, Among the Trees, at the Mornington Peninsula Regional Gallery in Australia. Additional activities include facilitating workshops and undertaking various projects, commissions, and collaborations. Her artworks are held in private and public collections, including the Southern Midlands Council and the Mornington Peninsula Regional Gallery. She is a member of the Finnish Painters Union and the Jyväskylä Artists' Association.
