Artist Bio

Lauren Guymer (b. 1992) is an Australian visual artist currently based in Finland. Lauren creates landscape paintings and drawings that explore her memories and experiences of the natural world. Primarily working with watercolour on paper, her paintings seek to convey the immersive feeling of being in nature. Characterised by intricate marks and light-filled layers, her works are developed through walking, observing, and painting in the landscape to form a sense of place and connection.

Lauren has exhibited in group and solo shows across Australia and Finland, including a major solo exhibition, ‘Among the Trees’, at the Mornington Peninsula Regional Gallery (AUS) in 2021. In addition, she has been a finalist in prize exhibitions, including the Paddington Art Prize (AUS), Agendo Art Prize (AUS), SBS Landscape Prize, and the M16 Drawing Prize (AUS). Lauren has also taught workshops, undertaken commissions and projects, and formed bodies of work at artist residencies in Australia, Finland, and Iceland. Her artworks are in public collections at the Southern Midlands Council (AUS) and the Mornington Peninsula Regional Gallery (AUS).

“…using watercolours to achieve depth and nuanced light, Lauren’s works are a testament to her finely honed observational skills and technical mastery. The impact of Lauren’s art is tangible, deeply resonating with observers and providing a lush window into the Australian landscape. ”
